How to Make a Tabaxi Artificer
As they’re inquisitive and creative, Artificers rely mostly on their brains. When you create your character, place your highest roll under the Intelligence ability score. The second-highest roll will go to either Constitution or Strength.
Next, consider where your Artificer journey will lead you. Specifically, decide on a subclass or Artificer Specialist. If you want to become a specialist in blowing stuff up using magic or creating unique magic-imbued cannons, be an Artillerist.
If you want to focus on melee-style fighting and having a big, metallic bodyguard with you, become a Battle Smith. If you want to provide more healing and support, become an Alchemist. Armorers focus on refining their armor and infusing it with magic through science.
Don’t forget to pick the backstory, background, and personality type of your character. Most Tabaxis are wanderers driven by curiosity. The subject of your curiosity can be a deity, object, lore, and more.
How to Play a Tabaxi Artificer
Your positioning during combat will depend on your subclass. For example, an Alchemist tends to be more of a supporting player rather than a big damage dealer. So it’s smarter to stay in the middle of the group where you can offer healing or offensive support with your Alchemist spells.
If you followed the path of the Battle Smith and use melee weapons, you’d want to stay near the front lines. You can always use your Steel Defender to protect and shield you from incoming blows.
Artillerists flourish the most when they stay at a good range from their foes. Use your eldritch cannon to take down your enemies. You also later learn to use an arcane firearm, which you can use along with your spellcasting.
If you become an Armorer, you take on the role of the tank in the party. Your armor allows you to gain certain benefits, like changing its “model.” You also gain a unique set of Armorer spells.
How to Roleplay as a Tabaxi Artificer
Playing as a Tabaxi Artificer is an interesting thing. One thing you need to remember about Tabaxis is that they’re a lot like real-life cats. They can be intimately attentive towards certain things as long as they’re curious about them. Yet, once they learn about its secrets, they may lose all interest and move onto their next conquest. Emphasize this Tabaxi trait when you roleplay.
Another thing that can help you roleplay better is to use an accent, specific ticks, or movements. These things can help you bring your character to life better.
