How to Make a Tiefling Blood Hunter
If you’re new to the game, the Tiefling race may stand out the most to you. The Tiefling is one of the most popular races among D&D players, even long before the 5th edition came to be.
Most people enjoy it because of the coolness, edginess, and “anti-good guy” vibes that Tieflings provide. Other people simply like the customization options and roleplay opportunities that come with it.
When you create a Tiefling Blood Hunter, start with your stats. Place your highest roll under the Strength or Dexterity ability score. If you want to wield melee weapons, pick Strength. If you want to use archery or finesse weapons, pick Dexterity.
Your second-highest score must be Intelligence. This gives you the ability to focus on the potency of your blood curses and mystical powers. If you want to keep extra hit points for your crimson right or blood curse amplification, pick Constitution instead.
How to Play a Tiefling Blood Hunter
Blood Hunters belong to various Orders or subclasses. These include:
- The Order of the Lycan
- The Order of the Mutant
- The Order of the Ghostslayer
- The Order of the Profaned Soul
The most powerful of all these is the Lycan or Order of the Lycan. It lets you take the form of a werewolf. The best Order for beginners is the Order of the Ghostslayer. It’s simple, straightforward, and easy to understand. The Order of the Profaned Souls gives you spellcasting abilities, versatility, and customizability.
How to Roleplay as a Tiefling Blood Hunter
Do you know why Tieflings have extra Charisma points as a part of their racial traits? Because of their appearance, they often experience discrimination. Some people avoid them, give unfair judgment, or feel outright revulsion towards them. Thus, Tieflings learned to create an image that can either keep strangers avoidant or attracted to the Tiefling.
You can incorporate this into your roleplaying, as well. You can create a charismatic, friendly, and pleasant character to be your Tiefling Blood Hunter. In contrast, you can also create one who is so intimidating that nobody dares to cross him or her.
Also, when you create a Blood Hunter, make sure there is a reason for your character to take up such a lifestyle. Becoming a Blood Hunter isn’t like becoming a Warlock or Rogue. They are “monsters” that hunt monsters. They often don’t live long, comfortable lives.
Let’s take the character Furaea as our example:
As the only child of a wealthy and affectionate couple, she experienced a rich and enviable childhood. However, everything changed when her parents died gruesomely in a fire.
People said it was accidental, but Furaea knew more. She knew those greedy and spiteful hands had signed her parents’ deaths. Now, she’s on the hunt to avenge them.
